Goldtown Beginnings

It’s 1859 and the height of the California gold rush. Seven-year-old Jem Coulter and his family live in a tent instead of a house. They pan gold in Cripple Creek, right alongside their prospector friend Strike-it-rich Sam. But gold is hard to find, so Mama bakes pies to sell to the miners, and Jem and his sister Ellie catch frogs to sell to the cafe. Life is hard in a gold camp, but Jem and Ellie find plenty of time for fun… and adventure.
